Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan was born 11 October 1942 is an Indian film actor. Bachchan was born in Allahabad Uttar Pradesh in north central India. His ancestors hailed from a village called Babupatti in the Raniganj taluka of Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh. His father Harivansh Rai Srivastava Bachchan was a well known Hindi poet and his mother Teji Bachchan was a Punjabi Sikh from Lyallpur now Faisalabad Punjab. Bachchan was initially named Inquilaab inspired by the phrase Inquilab Zindabad popularly used during the Indian independence struggle. In English Inquilab Zindabad means Long lives the revolution. However at the suggestion of fellow poet Sumitranandan Pant Harivansh Rai changed the boy's name to Amitabh which means the light that will never die. Bachchan has become the surname for all of his immediate family. Bachchan's father died in 2003 and his mother in 2007. He has a younger brother Ajitabh. His mother had a keen interest in theatre and was offered a feature film role but she preferred her domestic duties. Teji had some influence in Amitabh Bachchan's choice of career because she always insisted that he should take the centre stage. Bachchan is married to actress Jaya Bhaduri. The couple has two children Shweta Nanda. Shweta is married lives a non filmy life and has two children. Wife of businessman Nikhil Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan actor and husband of actress Aishwarya Rai. His son, Abhishek, is also an actor by his own rights. Amitabh and Jaya were interested in getting Abhishek married to Karishma the daughter of Babita and Randhir Kapoor they went through a formal engagement but later broke it off. The former Miss World and Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek were formally engaged on Sunday 14 January 2007 at the Bachchan residence in Juhu Bombay with the marriage taking place at the Bachchan residence on 20 April 2007. On 16 November 2011 he became a Dada Paternal Grandfather when Aishwarya gave birth to a daughter in Mumbai Hospital. He is already a Nana maternal grandfather to Navya Naveli and Agastye Shweta's children. He completed his education from Uttar Pradesh and moved to Bombay to find work as a film star in vain though as film makers preferred someone with a fairer skin he was not quite fair enough. But they did use one of his other assets, his deep baritone voice which was used for narration and background commentary. He was successful in being cast in Saat Hindustani. He got his break in Bollywood after a letter of introduction from the then Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi as he was a friend of her son Rajiv Gandhi. This is how Amitabh made an entry in Bollywood starting with Zanjeer co starred with his future wife Jaya Bhaduri and since then there has been no looking back. Amitabh Bachchan has invested in many upcoming business ventures. In 2013 he bought a 12% stake in Just Dial from which he made a gain of 4500 percent. He holds 3.3% equity in Stampede Capital a financial technology firm specializing in cloud computing for financial markets. The Bachchan family also bought shares worth 252,000 dollars in Meridian Tech a consulting company in U.S.
