Rice

Rice is central to the lives of billions of people around the world. Possibly the oldest domesticated grain 11,000 years rice is the staple food for 2.6 billion people 1 and growing rice is the largest single use of land for producing food covering 8% of the earth's arable land. Rice is the staple food of over half the world's population. A detailed analysis of nutrient content of rice suggests that the nutrition value of rice varies based on a number of factors. It depends on the strain of rice’ that is between white’ brown’ red’ and black varieties of rice each prevalent in different parts of the world. It also depends on nutrient quality of the soil rice is grown in’ whether and how the rice is polished or processed’ the manner it is enriched’ and how it is prepared before consumption. Rice is typically rinsed before cooking to remove excess starch. Rice produced in the US is usually fortified with vitamins and minerals and rinsing will result in a loss of nutrients. Rice may be rinsed repeatedly until the rinse water is clear to improve the texture and taste. The health benefits of rice include its ability to provide fast and instant energy’ regulate and improve bowel movements’ stabilize blood sugar levels’ and slow down the aging process’ while also providing an essential source of vitamin B1 to the human body. Rice may be soaked to decrease cooking time conserve fuel minimizes exposure to high temperature and reduces stickiness. For some varieties soaking improves the texture of the cooked rice by increasing expansion of the grains. Rice may be soaked for 30 minutes up to several hours. Rice is cooked by boiling or steaming and absorbs water during cooking. With the absorption method rice may be cooked in a volume of water similar to the volume of rice. With the rapid boil method rice may be cooked in a large quantity of water which is drained before serving. Rapid boil preparation is not desirable with enriched rice as much of the enrichment additives are lost when the water is discarded. It has been estimated that half the world's population subsists wholly or partially on rice. Ninety percent of the world crop is grown and consumed in Asia. As a food rice is low in fat and compared with other cereal grains in protein. Rice possesses low sodium content. It helps regulate your blood pressure levels when you are pregnant. Consuming an appropriate amount of rice ensures a safe delivery. Rice is an unimpeachable staple food that many consume all over the world. People use rice to prepare a myriad of cuisines. After the glycogen is full 2000 calories on average your body will store the extra into body fat. So eating rice by itself without eating excess calories will not make you gain belly fat or fat. To under carb and weight loss check out my video here Hopefully this helps Brown rice naturally has more fiber’ vitamins’ minerals and protein and is digested more slowly compared to white rice. If you eat rice and are trying to lose weight work on cutting down your portion size as an easy way to lower extra calories. You will get more nutrients and fiber for your volume of food. Brown rice is often considered healthier rice than white rice but white rice may actually be the healthier choice. Like anything from the grains family’ rice contains a certain level of anti nutrients like phytates which can make it hard for us to absorb the minerals it contains. Among the guiltiest are the usual white rice’ whole milk’ cheese’ yogurt’ ice cream’ red meat’ bananas’ carrots’ high fat food’ and so on  none of these foods can cause constipation anymore than wind or water. That is because none of them ever reach the colon undigested.
