Rain
Rain is liquid water in the form of droplets that have
condensed from atmospheric water vapor and then precipitated that is become
heavy enough to fall under gravity. Rain is a major component of the water
cycle and is responsible for depositing most of the fresh water on the Earth.
It provides suitable conditions for many types of ecosystems as well as water
for hydroelectric power plants and crop irrigation. Rain is the drops of
water that fall on the earth from the cloud. Rainfall is defined as fall of innumerable
drops of water rain at a time on the earth surface. Water from seas’ ocean’
river’ lakes’ canals’ ponds etc. gets vaporized due to the heat of the sun.
This vapor rises up and comes in contact with cold air and condenses in the
form of cloud. When this cloud is cooled further it cannot float in space and
falls down on the earth surface as rain by the gravitational attraction of the
earth. The rainy
season or monsoon season
is the time of year when most of a region's average annual rainfall occurs. It
usually lasts one or more months. The term green season is also sometimes used as a euphemism by tourist
authorities. Rain brings a multitude of benefits to the earth including watering wild plants
and crops humidifying the air creating streams and rivers replenishing the
water table and creating healthy negative ions. Perhaps the most important benefit of rain is its redistribution of fresh water in the water cycle.
Rain is wonderful but in life too much of a good thing can be bad. Rain can
potentially ruin delay prolong any outdoor event. Rain can be an inconvenience
to those who left the house without appropriate clothing raincoat rain boots
etc have their hair done nicely or are prone to frizzy hair in humid conditions
or left something outdoors drying clothes left car window down etc exposed to
the rain. Rain can cause floods which as Matthew
stated can cause property damage bodily injury or death potentially for large
amounts of people. Rain can be a part of storms storms and rain frighten some
people. There are 3 main types of rainfall relief frontal and convectional. Describe each
and give conditions when the occur. 10 marks Relief rainfall occurs when air has been blown over the sea and is then
forced up over an area of high land. Rainwater is good for washing your hair because it is a soft water that is neutral in pH’ free
from disinfection by products salts minerals and other unnatural materials. Tap
water which is harder in comparison does not wash hair as well because it makes lathering and rinsing more
difficult. Water from the roof may not be safe to
drink but where safe rainwater
collection systems have been put in place water collected may be drunk without being boiled. All one has to
do is to leave it to settle remove pollutants before drinking Kahwah says. Before falling to the ground rain water picked up many contaminants
present in the air. Drinking rain water
near chemical plants or near the plumes of power plants, paper mills etc is not
safe to drink but people living
far from such places can drink rain
water. They should make sure to boil rain water first. Rain water
is considered the purest form of water. Impurities and salts present in water
on earth are left behind during vaporisation by the sun. The rain water we receive on earth is not
necessarily pure as it brings
down impurities and particles present in the atmosphere along with it. The source of almost all fresh water is precipitation from the
atmosphere in the form of mist rain
and snow. Fresh water falling as
mist rain or snow contains
materials dissolved from the atmosphere and material from the sea and land over
which the rain bearing clouds
have traveled.
