The category called sugar confectionery encompasses any sweet confection including chocolate chewing gum and sugar candy. Sugar candies include hard candies’ soft candies’ caramels’ marshmallows taffy and other candies whose principal ingredient is sugar. Commercially sugar candies are often divided into groups according to the amount of sugar they contain and their chemical structure. Hot chocolate or other cocoa based drinks are excluded as is candy made from chocolate Candy is made by dissolving sugar in water or milk to form syrup which is boiled until it reaches the desired concentration or starts to caramelize. Candy comes in a wide variety of textures from soft and chewy to hard and brittle. Candy is considered a source of empty calories because it provides little or no nutritional value beyond food energy. Candy contains no meat or other animal parts and many contain no milk or other animal products. . Rich dark chocolate is packed with powerful heart healthy antioxidant flavonoids. Regularly eating chocolate decreases the risk of heart attack and stroke by 38 percent. Chocolate bar weekly reduced their chances of dying from a stroke by 45 %. Chocolate contains both serotonin a neurotransmitter that acts as an antidepressant as well as a chemical called phenyl ethylene PEA that enhances mood. Chocolate with a high cocoa content should be included in the diet of individuals with Type 3 diabetes as part of a sensible balanced approach to diet and lifestyle. Sticky candy is detrimental to teeth because it gets caught between them. Because saliva can't reach between teeth to wash the candy away sticky sweets put you at a high risk of tooth decay. Because they're highly acidic they actually break down tooth enamel Candy and many other sweets contain rapidly digested carbohydrates such as refined floud and sugar that are almost instantly absorbed by our metabolism, leading to the spike in blood sugar levels following by the rapid decrease. This blood sugar crash can cause slight effects of addiction such as trembling craving for more sweets hunger headache and thirst.
