The South Asian tree Syzygium cumini family Myrtaceae cultivated for its fruit and as a shade tree. The various names for this fruit are in Java plum’ jambol’ jamun’ jaman’ black plum’ faux pistachier’ Indian blackberry’ jambol’ doowet jambolan and jambolan.
